The FEI Juniors Dressage Championship is in June, and in California this year. The distance and the short qualifying season has made it virtually impossible for Eastern and Midwestern Juniors to qualify for the championship. With that in mind, Lendon Gray, a great advocate for youth in dressage, has added an FEI Juniors division to her annual Youth Dressage Festival. What’s even more exciting is that Canada has also been invited to send riders, making this truly an international event.

This is a great opportunity for our region’s Juniors to compete on an international field without making the arduous hike out to California so early in the season. A team of Midwestern riders would be quite a hit at this tremendous event. "I would be thrilled to have riders from Region Two join this unique international show that is highly competitive, yet educational and fun," said Gray. There are also divisions at every USEF level, as well as an FEI Young Riders and an FEI Ponies division. It is particularly exciting that the Ponies division is open to any young rider, under 21 years old. For more information on the event itself, please see dressage4kids.com, and get in touch with Lauren Sprieser.

In the interest of helping a team of Juniors get to New York, we hope to fundraise enough this summer to be able to support both the Juniors and Young Riders at their respective competitions. To help with fundraising, please also contact Lauren.
