Centered Riding mourns the passing of

Sally Swift...

It is with deep regret that I must inform you of the passing of our beloved Sally Swift. Sally struggled with pneumonia since the end of January and although she tried very hard to get better, she was not able to get back on her feet.

She peacefully slipped away today as one of her friends read to her. We are all deeply saddened by the loss of this gifted, caring and gentle woman. The world will not be the same without her. Our thoughts and prayers go out at this time to Sally's family, friends and caregivers who are struggling with this great loss.

Following is the announcement on our website regarding Sally's life and accomplishments. More details will be posted about the memorial service for Sally as they become known.

Ed Rothkranz grew up in Germany at a time when he was fortunate to have as dressage instructors men who had been officers and riders in the German Army during WWII, particularly Colonel Pollay. Many of these men had been schooled at the Spanish Riding School when Austria was occupied by Germany. These teachers were the first ones to instill the idea of "forward and down" into his riding, which Ed still teaches more than a half century later. Upon moving to Canada, Mr Rothkranz was Reserve Canadian International Dressage Champion in 1974, Reserve Eastern Canadian Champion in 1975, and Canadian Advanced Level Champion in 1977. He competed in the 1980 Olympics for Team Canada. He moved to the US in 1980, and is currently known for his bloodlines of upper level dressage horses, providing competition horses for Americans and Europeans, such as the late Dr, Reiner Klimke and Thomas Poulin, Mr Rothranz also provided the training and instruction of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police who perform dressage to music throughout the world.
